Fundamental constants in effective theory

چکیده
There is a discussion between L. B. Okun, G. Veneziano and M. J. Duff, concerning the number of fundamental dimensionful constants in physics [1]. They advocated correspondingly 3, 2 and 0 fundamental constants. Here we consider this problem on example of the effective relativistic quantum field theory, which emerges in the low energy corner of quantum liquids and which reproduces many features of our physics including chiral fermions, gauge fields and dynamical gravity.

متن کاملA New Numerical Procedure for Determination of Effective Elastic Constants in Unidirectional Composite Plates
In this paper a composite plate with similar unidirectional fibers is considered. Assuming orthotropic structure, theory of elasticity is used for investigating the stress concentration. Also, complex variable functions are utilized for solving the plane stress problems. Then the effective characteristics of this plate are studied numerically by using ANSYS software. In this research a volume e...

Higher–dimensional theories imply that some constants, such as the gravitational constant and the strength of the gauge–couplings, are not fundamental constants. Instead they are related to the sizes of the extra–dimensional space, which are moduli fields in the four– dimensional effective theory. We study the cosmological evolution of the moduli fields appearing in brane world scenarios and di...
